The Power of Choice
Nobody remembers Clarence Urmy[1858-1923], but a few lines of his poem, The Things that Count are immortalized in John Bartlett's Familiar Quotations:
"Not what we have, but what we use;
Not what we see, but what we choose--
These are the things that mar or bless
The sum of human happiness."
What we choose to eat can make a profound difference in our health. All of us make choices that do not serve our bodies well.There usually comes a time we must deal with our less than perfect choices. Here are some suggestions:
Three Simple Steps to Living Well
- Eliminate lifestyle choices that result in poor health. Exchange a largely sedentary lifestyle for a more active one and discover that exercise produces endorphins that brighten your outlook on life. Change a diet high in unhealthy fats, sugars, and processed foods for one that's higher in fiber, fruits, vegetables, and other complex carbohydrates and reap the benefits of weight loss and a better quality of life. - Nourish your body by giving it the nutrients it needs at the cellular level. Build your diet around whole foods, preferably eaten whole.
